New Phase for Formula 1 Side Car Racing Team

Birchall Racing has just received sponsorship approval from Phase Print Limited for assistance with their promotional design and print.

Underwood firm Phase Print Limited, who design and print Posters, Flyers and all types of promotional and corporate material, have agreed to sponsor Birchall Racing “the Formula 1 Sidecar Racing Team” with their promotional material.

Birchall Racing was founded by Ben and Tom Birchall who are based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Ben is aged 29 and a Workshop proprietor and Tom who is 20 is a Joiner. They race an F1 sidecar with a 1000cc Suzuki engine.

It all started back in 2003 when Tom became Ben’s passenger and that year they finished joint 4th place in the MRO British Sidecar Championship and were also awarded “Rookie of the year” in the F1 British Championship.

2004 took the brothers to the Eastern Airways Championship at Assen in the Netherlands where they finished 4th.

The following year they finished runners up in the MRO British Championship creating a new lap record at Pembrey in Wales and also at Cadwell where they won two races. The same year Ben and Tom were awarded the Bill Boddice Sidecar Challenge Trophy and were winners at Donnington Park where they set a new lap record.

Currently they are competing in both the FIM World Sidecar Championship and British F1 Championship, where they got off to a good start in the first round held at Snetterton in Norfolk, gaining a double podium with two 2nd place finishes.

Thursday 21st June saw them at Donington Park, prior to the British MotoGP, giving taxi rides to the public to raise money for the Riders for Health Charity Fund.

“When hitting speeds of up to 180 mph with around 3.5G in some corners and under braking, whilst sitting 65 millimetres from the ground with no safety belts or roll cage…trust and fitness plays an enormous part” said Ben. “I don't know why I do it, the sport is one of the most physically demanding for both driver and passenger” continued Tom.
